what are we looking at???

This would be some attempts at getting close-ups pics of the STAPLES Kaipo got in his head last night. He was being his crazy Kaipo self, fell and hit his head on the edge of my dresser. That thing started bleeding like you wouldn't believe! I was scared, and so was he seeing all the blood. His back side was covered with blood b4 mom could get a towel on it to apply pressure. It did stop bleeding rather quickly, but the gash was pretty deep. Luckily he continued to ACT his crazy, normal self, so we were pretty sure he didn't have a concussion. Luckily Quinn was home and did some research online, asked Kaipo some memory questions, and then we called the hospital. I did end up taking him about 8:30pm to the 24 hour WEE CARE PEDIATRIC. He got 5 lovely staples right in his head, no numbing or anything. The Dr. did give us the option of applying something that would take the edge off, but he would still feel it, plus we would have 20-30 minutes for that to kick in, so he suggested we just do it quick. After Kaipo charmed everyone in the office with his smile and personality, he shed some tears & screamed when he realized what was happening. Who could blame him?? I mean STAPLES in your head! I think I would scream too. But he was very brave, got a handful of suckers and has been fine ever since. Now he thinks it is pretty cool that he has actual staples in his head. We have to go back in a week to get them taken out, but the Dr assured us it hardly hurts to get 'em out. I sure hope he's right! And luckily Kaipo already has a buzz so they didn't have to shave any of his head.
I just can't believe we haven't had to do anything like this b4 now!
Cross our fingers we don't have to again for at least a few more years!!!

Those head injuries do bleed like crazy! Nick got hit on the head by a nameless sibling of his with a shower nozzle while we were on vacation once. We were scared to death at all the blood! But eventually they stop. Very scary!

Reassure Kaipo that staples coming out is totally easy. I was scared when I had mine taken out after my c-section but it really does not hurt at all.

I hope this will be your last staple experience but with two boys just be prepared!!!

Wow! But I have to agree it was coming to him sooner or later. Now I'm just waiting for my turn. I can't even imagine what it is like to hold a kid down screaming while someone stapled their head. I would have been crying.

I cannot even imagine! You are certainly traveling a different road with the boys than I am with all girls! What a wild ride Kaipo is taking you on, and STAPLES! Wow!!! One tough boy!!

Oh sweet Kaipo, we are sorry you had to get STAPLED back together. We love you and know you will be brave. And we too think this is JUST THE BEGINNING Brittany. Life is never dull with little boys.

I totally feel your pain! My little guy Dallin has been to the ER more times than I'd like to count -- stitches, staples, 3 broken arms and probably a couple of other things I can't remember right now. He's only 7 and most of that happend in his first 4 years. Good luck -- they really do give us a run for our money!

That is one of my fears...all that blood. I can't believe all of that what a trooper!
